Matthias Hederer

Matthias was born in Bruxelles (Belgium) and grew up in diffrent places
in northern- and southern Germany. Later he studied at Karlsruhe University
of Arts and Design (HfG/ZKM) and made his master in videoart, performance
and photography. Afterwards he started to work for German television as
videographer, editor and director.
2001 he started a still existing collaboration with the scenographer Iris
Holstein as "Iris-a-Maz". Together they work on performed spaces,
performances, media art projects, photography and lectures.
From 2003 through 2006 Matthias took part at the think tank "Büro
für Raumfragen".
He participated at the Iris-a-Maz expedition "Paradise is over the
ocean" to Sydney in 2006/07. That project was an exploration of the
vegetation of the citycentre of Sydney inspired by the first cook expedition
1769/71.
After a short artist in residency at PACT Zollverein Essen (2007) he continued
to work as a freelance videographer. Actually he is working with Iris Holstein
on the results of the expedition to Sydney 06/07.
